Product and workflow
What is FirstNudge?
FirstNudge is an iPhone task manager that can turn a brain dump into editable tasks and help you choose one next action based on the time and energy you have. It also includes focus sessions, reminders, recurring tasks, planned work times, and completed-task history.
Who is FirstNudge for?
FirstNudge is for adults who want a simpler way to capture tasks, decide where to begin, and keep moving without maintaining a complicated planning system. It can be used for work, school, errands, and household responsibilities. It is a productivity tool, not a medical device or treatment.
How does brain-dump capture work?
Type or speak one thought or several tasks together. You can save manually, or request assisted organization to create editable task drafts. Review every title, date, and estimate before saving, and keep only what is correct.
Does FirstNudge use AI?
FirstNudge uses the OpenAI Responses API through secured Firebase Cloud Functions for two optional assisted features: organizing a Capture into task drafts and suggesting a smaller first step. Ordinary task management and the Now recommendation do not require an AI request.
How does FirstNudge choose what I should do next?
The Now screen uses task information stored on your device, including deadlines, importance, estimated duration, current eligibility, and the time and energy you selected. It offers one action with a short reason. You can choose another task at any time.
What if an urgent task is too long for the time I have?
FirstNudge does not have to hide it. The app can keep the deadline risk visible and offer a smaller place to begin, instead of pretending the entire task fits into the selected time.
What does Make Smaller do?
Make Smaller suggests one concrete first step for a large or vague task. The step stays linked to the parent task. Completing the step moves the work forward but does not mark the entire parent task complete.
What is the difference between a deadline, a planned work time, and a reminder?
A deadline is when the task is truly due. A planned work time is when you intend to work on it. A reminder is when you want iOS to notify you. FirstNudge stores them separately so postponing an attempt does not silently change the real deadline.
Can I use FirstNudge without assisted features?
Yes. You can manually create and edit tasks, search and filter your list, use the on-device Now recommendation, add steps, run focus sessions, create simple recurring tasks, set reminders, and use the basic widget without making an assisted request.
Does FirstNudge work offline?
Core task management works with data on your device, including manual tasks, local search, the Now recommendation, focus sessions, calendar availability, and already-scheduled reminders. Assisted Capture organization and Make Smaller requests require an internet connection. Apple services such as speech recognition may also require a connection in some situations.
Assisted actions and plans
What is an assisted action?
One new server-assisted Capture organization or Make Smaller request is one assisted action. A Capture that produces several task drafts still counts as one. Retrying the same failed request with the same request ID does not consume another action.
How many assisted actions are included?
FirstNudge Free includes 10 assisted actions per UTC calendar month. FirstNudge Pro includes 150 total assisted actions per UTC calendar month.
What happens when I reach my limit?
New assisted Capture organization and Make Smaller requests pause until the next reset, unless you upgrade from Free to Pro. Your existing tasks and all ordinary local task-management features remain available.
What is included with FirstNudge Pro?
Pro includes 150 assisted actions per UTC calendar month, calendar-aware work-slot suggestions, and reusable multi-task routines. It also includes every feature available in Free.
How much does FirstNudge Pro cost?
The current U.S. launch prices are $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year. Apple controls localized storefront pricing, and the live StoreKit price displayed before purchase is the price that applies.
Is there a free trial?
No free trial is currently offered. FirstNudge Free can be used without beginning a subscription.
How do I cancel Pro?
Manage or cancel FirstNudge Pro through your Apple Account subscription settings. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. Canceling normally leaves access available until the end of the current paid period.
How do I restore a purchase?
Tap Restore Purchases in FirstNudge while signed in to the Apple Account used for the purchase. If Apple shows an active subscription but Pro is not restored, contact support.
Privacy and permissions
Do I need to create an account?
No sign-up is required. FirstNudge uses anonymous Firebase Authentication and pseudonymous installation or request identifiers to secure backend requests, enforce usage limits, and restore request state. These technical identifiers are not a conventional profile with your name and password.
Where are my tasks stored?
Your task list and ordinary planning data are stored locally on your device under the current implementation. FirstNudge does not provide multi-device task sync in this release.
What leaves my device during an assisted request?
FirstNudge sends only the text needed for the requested Capture organization or Make Smaller action, plus locale, time zone, request ID, and pseudonymous installation or authentication identifiers. The request passes through secured Firebase Cloud Functions to the OpenAI Responses API.
Is my whole task list sent to choose the next task?
No. The ordinary Now recommendation is computed using saved task data on your device. FirstNudge does not send the whole task database to an AI model merely to rank tasks.
Is my calendar sent to OpenAI?
No under the current implementation. Calendar information stays on the device. With permission, FirstNudge Pro reads selected calendar availability locally to suggest possible work times.
Is my voice recording sent to OpenAI?
No. FirstNudge does not send microphone audio to its Firebase/OpenAI backend. Apple’s Speech framework may process recognition on the device or through Apple services, depending on device, language, and availability. Only the resulting text is sent to the FirstNudge backend if you request assisted organization.
Does FirstNudge use Firebase Analytics?
No. Firebase Analytics is not part of the verified FirstNudge integration. FirstNudge does use Firebase Core, anonymous Firebase Authentication, Firebase App Check, and Firebase Cloud Functions for app functionality and security.
Does FirstNudge sell my personal information or use it for targeted advertising?
FirstNudge does not use the verified app integration to sell personal information, serve targeted advertising, or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. It uses service providers only to operate, secure, support, and bill for the app.
How do I delete my data?
Delete individual tasks in the app or remove FirstNudge from your iPhone to remove local app data from that device, subject to Apple-managed device backups. For deletion of backend data tied to pseudonymous identifiers or support communications, follow the Privacy Choices and Data Deletion page or email batchcompressvideos@gmail.com.
Devices and support
Which devices does FirstNudge support?
FirstNudge is a native iPhone app for iOS 18 or later. Android, web, collaboration, and multi-device task sync are not included in the current release.
How can I contact support?
Email batchcompressvideos@gmail.com. Include your iPhone model, iOS version, FirstNudge version, the screen involved, and the error message. Remove private task text from screenshots unless it is necessary to explain the problem.
